Accountant w/ Australian Accounting Background

We are looking for candidates with a strong understanding in Accounting with an exposure to Australian business setup . Candidates must have the willingness to learn and work as part of a team. You will need great English communication skills, both written and verbal. Work hours are during the day, with a 7am start time and end at 4pm. Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare financial statements (profit & loss, balance sheet, depreciation schedules etc) from client records
  • Import client records into our accounting software and allocate income and expenses to our chart of accounts.
  • Complete various reconciliation as required (reconcile wages, super, loans etc).
  • Preparation of income tax returns for sole traders, partnerships, trusts, companies and self managed super funds.
  • Internet research relating to Australian Taxation Rules and various other matters.
  • Applicant will be working with HandiSoft accounting package (however experience is not essential).
  • Setting up clients in HandiSoft database.
  • Calculation of ratios and comparison against Australian Tax Office (ATO) benchmarks.
  • Assist accountants and staff with any other matters required.Reception and administration duties may be required sometimes.


Essentials Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3+ years accounting experience
  • Degree in Accounting and CPA Qualified (or equivalent)
  • Experience with Australian Accounting System
  • Background in Australian income tax returns and financial accounts
  • Experience with Netsuite
  • Microsoft Word and Excel experience is essential
  • Experience in the use of MYOB, Xero and Quickbooks software is an advantage
  • Sage Handisoft experience is a huge advantage
  • High level of integrity with a strong work ethic
  • Good interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills
  • Work well in a team
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Exceptional research skills and ability to interpret and explain findings to other staff.
